How to Download
Torrent Basically, a torrent is a fast way to download large files, like movies, whole albums, etc. Instead of copying files from one person to another, like you do in LimeWire, you copy bits of info from many different people with the same file. To download torrents, first, you need a bitTorrent CLIENT, a program you can download for free that tells you info on yer downloads (percentage done, etc.) I use and recommend uTorrent. Once you install that yer ready to download torrents! You can cruise torrent webpages such as IsoHunt, Mininova, and SeedPeer to name a few, find what ya like, and click to download. A lil' dialogue box will pop up asking you what to do with the torrent file-->select 'open' and choose uTorrent as the program to open it--->Bam! it appears in your client and starts downloading. Torrents are a tricky thing so here are a few things to keep in mind: -Upon your search it will explain seeds and peers for that particular torrent: Seeds are the people that have the complete file, peers are other people currently getting the file. The more seeds the faster the download. -Pay attention to the files you want to download. Most every torrent search engine has options to view the files and view comments. Before you download see what people are saying about the file. Usually they'll say if it's a good file, or if it's fake or a virus. Also look at what the files are. If you want music make sure it's a format you recognize (mp3,m4a,flac), cuz if it's somethin' weird chances are it's a virus or spyware. Pay Attention! If you pay attention then you shouldn't have any crazy problems downloading torrents |
ZIP ZIP files are direct download compressed folders with the music files in them. To download a ZIP file simply click the download option and a dialogue box pops up. Select 'Save' and pick a location to save it to yer computer. I usually just save my ZIP files to my Torrent downloads folder so don't lose track. To open the zip folder you need to "unzip" it. Simply right click it and select "Extract all", and follow all the directions in the dialogue box. Before you know it the folder's decompressed and you have your music. Viola!
To get these ZIP downloads you will have to register with DatPiff.com. If you don't feel like registering just follow the instructions for torrents.
